Sangeet Kayastha is a Bangkok-based Nepalese activist with over 19 years of experience in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). He holds a master’s degree in development studies and a bachelor’s in social work. Sangeet has worked extensively at various levels, from grassroots initiatives to international organizations, focusing on peer education, gender issues, and humanitarian contexts.

Currently, he serves as the Coordinator of Y-PEER (Youth Peer Education Network) Asia Pacific Center in Bangkok, Thailand. His work involves organizing advocacy events, conferences, and dialogues to improve SRHR for adolescents and youth. He has collaborated with organizations like the United Nations Youth Advisory Panel, Amnesty International, and the Interagency Task Team on Young Key Populations.

Sangeet has also played a significant role in advancing the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD). He has been involved in numerous initiatives, including the Asia-Pacific ICPD25 Regional Youth Consultation and the Nairobi Summit, where he was a speaker on feminist approaches to humanitarian action.

As the Coordinator of Y-PEER Asia Pacific Center, he has been instrumental in building sustainable networks of peer educators across multiple countries, including Nepal, Bhutan, Laos, and Vietnam. These networks consist of thousands of members who work closely with schools, local governments, and civil society organizations to spread awareness and provide training at the grassroots level1.

His work also includes organizing leadership programs for girls and youth, mentoring initiatives, and conducting research to address health risks and improve access to family planning information and services. Through these efforts, Sangeet has played a key role in fostering collaboration and advocacy within the region.
